Shaped Crystal Catalog

pretty crystals shaped as objects and creatures
My crystals <3

Crystal collecting became a hobby I never thought I'd get myself invested in.

Living minutes away from a downtown area, home to two metaphysical shops, it's difficult not to visit. I enjoy taking my walks up and down the street and I always stop by these shops to browse all the pretty things and pourchase at least one crystal, which on average is about two bucks.

I keep my small crystals in a pretty hexegon-shaped glass case I bought from hobby lobby, placed by the window of my office, sometimes taking out specific ones to keep them closer as I work or carry them in a small drawstring pouch when I travel.

My favorite types of crystals to buy however are the ones that are shaped into little things!

I'm a sucker for symbolism, and usually before I buy a crystal, I poke around Google researching if this shape works well for the type of crystal it's made of.

For example, here's an easy one even if you aren't crystal-fanatics, rose quartz is a stone tied to love. If I find a rose quartz shaped as a heart, rose, or angel, I will consider buying it.

To me, an appropriate shape makes the stone much more special. And for someone who's still a fresh mind into this hobby, it helps me remember the stone's significance.

I'd also love to point out the "power" of crystals in general.

Do YOU think they have power? How could these pretty little stones give you a boost of confidence? Make you more patient? Wise? Less tired?

Well, I'm a big believer in the placebo effect - and it's all the power of "the mind," what you make it to be. If a book about crystals says wearing bloodstone will make you more creative, you wear a bracelet everyday - and who knows one day you'll have a creative spark and tackle on some cool projects!

Besides, crystals are from the earth. They are natural - and thats more than enough for me to buy into the hobby and be a little witch <3

Just wanted to point that on before we get onto the list! (Also, I appolgiize in advanced if I get some of these crystals wrong!)

The Obsidian Crow Skull

obsidian crow skull crystal

Black Obsidian powers: protection against negative energies, embrace human flaws and weaknesses as opportunities for growth and development, change bad habits

Chakra: root

Crow: symbolism death and rebirth, misfortune, danger, intelligence

I purchased this little guy from a crystal vendor at a lavander/ fairy festival in Imlay City, Michigan. Easily, I can say this stone is one of my favorites.

If you have scoured through my blog, you may know I'm currently writing a series I titled Obsidian - and in that series the school mascot is the Crow... so I could NOT pass this stone up!!!

Not only it held special commendation to this project, but the symbolism of the crow tied in nicely to the powers of the obsidian stone.

People often feel creeped out by crows - a flock of these birds being called a "murder." But we also have to remember that crows are simply just birds, how a cross and a heart are simply just shapes. Not everything is bad, good, or religious.

So the crow shaped obsidian skull was absolutely perfect for me - being a symbol of itself to protect myself from negative energies, spread my wings, and work on myself.

The Agate Dragon Head

agate dragon head crystal

Agate powers: knowledge, communication, concentration, ease inner anger and anxiety, strengthen relationships

Chakra: crown

Dragon symbolism: supernatural power, wisdom, strength, hidden knowledge

I purchased this baby boy from the metaphysical shop in my downtown area... and he's so badass!

I love fantasy. Dragons are known to be present in fantasy worlds such as Game of Thrones and Harry Potter, or in simple storybook tales.

Dragons are also OLD, living thousands of years. Some talk. Some are destructive; some simply just... chill and not burn down villages.

I've even heard the slang of people calling angry people "dragons" for their vile actions ad behaviors.

So many things. But I think dragons are beautiful - big beautiful winged creatures filled with magic, the ability to fly, and wild in nature.

So an agate dragon head was the perfect find. Dragon's are wise, considering how long they lives. And yes they indeed can be dangerous with their enormous size and fire-breathing abilities. It's important to balance those emotions where the good qualities are overpowering the bad one, and this dragon-head symbolizes just that.

Also, I LOVE how this cool stone reflects the warmth of the blasting sun, glowing a radient orange hue, like the dragon's fire <3

Tiny Azurite Pyramid

blue azurite pyramid crystal

Azurite powers: connecting with your intuition, make wiser, soul-inspired life decisions, examine the root cause of thoughts, motives, and behaviors, letting go of your ego.

Chakra: third eye, crown

Pyramid symbolism: life after death (Egyptian), hierarchy, the "stairway"

I purchased this tiny guy from a vendor in the Michigan Rennisance Festival.

Immediately the vibrant blue color drew my attention in that tight little dark shop. Fun fact, I also paid for the stone with only quarters, feeling like a true elf :)

This is one of the crystals I keep in my tiny transparent drawstring bag with my other tiny shaped stones. Easily it's the one that stands out the most and that says a lot.

Azurite is all about fixing your EGO.

People who have a big ego are known to be flashy, and deem themselves important.

Well, the Egyptian pyramids were made for pharaohs... important kings and queens, huh? Royals who affect tons of people to work on these ENORMOUS structure for years just for them to be buried in? (Though I agree, it's pretty cool.)

It also reminded me of the food pyramids, or yes, the hierarchy system. The tip of hte pyramid is home to the higher power, the divinity.

Thinking about it now... I got a TINY pyramid guy. I never want to have a big ego myself. Confidence, yes of course, but not prance around with a crown on my head expecting everyone to look up to me (even though that's one of the chakras).

So indeed I seek reasons, exploring my thoughts, motives and actions, and opening my (third) eye to the bigger picture, taking time to really inspect it.

Overall, I feel like I found the perfect shape to pair with the azurite!

Tiny Green Adventurine Snail

green adventurine snail crystal

Green Adventuring powers: luck, abundance, opportunity, bring awarenss to the highs and lows and life, nurutre emotional balance, peronal growth, strengthen connection to the earth.

Chakra: heart

Snail symbolism: slow, laziness, tolerance, perseverance

Behold... my favorite crystal - purchased in the downtown metaphysical shop!

I call him my good luck charm :)

Antennas with fine point pupils, and a beautiful spirally shell carried by a lump of... mush, snails are quirky little creatures.

It's difficult to find snails, and I certainly feel lucky if I ever come across one. My first snail, B.B, I found on my way to work one early spring morning - ON THE SIDEWALK. Poor guy could've been stepped on!

But I took him home and he was my buddy for a couple of months. As silly and weird this experience was having a pet snail, it still hold dear to me, and behold, a blog brand based on my friend, who now will give me luck on my journey.

Slowness and laziness may seem like not so good perks though. But have you heard "slow and steady wins the race?"

I personally have anxiety over the concept of time - that I don't have enough of it, yet I still work slowly because I want things to look good, not rushed. And I do have my lazy moments slumped in my beanbag eating popcorn when I'm supposed to work for a client. But I cherish these lazy moments; because it's not bad to relax.

Also, my favorite part is the shell being a form of protection. "Getting out of my shell" was difficult, and I finally found a place where I can comfortably do that here <3

Tiny Caribbean Calcite Mushroom

caribbean calcite mushroom crystal

Caribbean Calcite powers: calming, healing, emotional balance, unplug from everyday hustle and take time to rest, paceful visions of a pristine paradise, teach you to experience each moment and 'just be', raise awareness of your higher self

Chakra: third eye, crown

Mushroom symbolism: visionary, good luck, energy, good and bad transformation, longevity, safety, enlightenment

Another tiny friend from the downtown metaphysical shop, purchased with my snail stone.

Mushrooms are just adorable.

Over the years these little plants have been the craze. I've seen adorable mushroom plushies, graphic t-shirts, present in all kinds of cottage-core merch and products (especially working at a Spencer's), and lets not forget... in the delicious food!

I'll straight up say it... I think one of the big reasons mushrooms are big now is because of the rise of shrooms as a drug. And it should be kept illigal; because it's quite the experience.

It's a "trip."

People who take shrooms have an enlightened experience. The effect you have on your magical"trip" could be pure bliss, it can be uncomfortable, or even terrifying. I personally think the condition of the experience is based on an appropriate amount to take, and lets face it, you take too much, you will literally shake hands with the spirits (just like any other drug.)

My tiny mushroom stone is so darling and dear and I'm so happy to call it mine. With its white color, it reminds me of purity; and the stone itself is pure and natural.

Another good luck charm, and a reminder to always keep an open mind, explore, and be one with nature - to not ignore Mother Earth. To have moments to myself and relax.

In short, mushroom x carribean calcite = a perfect match.

Tiny Citrine Mushroom

citrine mushroom crystal

Citrine powers: raise self esteem, self confidence, removes destructive tendencies, activates creativity, enhances individuality, improves motivation

Chakra: solar plexus

Mushroom symbolism: visionary, good luck, energy, good and bad transformation, longevity, safety, enlightenment

This amber-colored beauty was purchased at the downtown metaphysical shop after they advertised citrine is a November birthstone - early birthday gift for me!

I'm currently traveling through a challenging part of my life - exploring my emotions of my current workspaces and figuring out a successful pathway to my freelance dreams.

This stone is perfect for me, helping me to keep my eye on the ball, to keep the creative juice flowing and to feel better about myself <3

The mushroom will symbolize my personal growth, positive transformation, and bringing my visions to life.

Tiny Flower Agate Moon

flower agate moon crystal

Flower Agate powers: emotional healing, love, compassion, be aware of traumatic pain and release the restraints

Chakra: root, heart

Moon symbolism: night, the rhythm of time, feminine energy, subconscious desires and needs

I purchased this darling from a friend who sells jewelry - she purchased a bulk of crystals online and sold them with her work.

When checking out the utterly tiny stone, I actually didn't look up the powers of flower agate. I did ask her though which crystal was it and I was sold by just the mere name.

Flower agate. And a moon. Sure, seems like huge opposites but something felt right when holding the stone.

And I was right! After doing my research, the symbolism matched up well to the powers perfectly, especially on a personal level.

Feminism is often tied with moons, and I never want to lose touch of that. Flowers are also seem as a very feminine product, and the moon splattered with hints of green is absolutely beautiful.

And there goes the concept of time again - my biggest fear! Though it shouldn't be a fear. It's just a concept I have to manage well and accept as is.

I love looking at the moon. Gazing up at big full beauty or sharp crescent wonder makes me feel calm, and even a sense of healing.

The moon is real - it changes everyday following a cycle that it never breaks. Thats a flex, and I salute people who are "moons" themselves always on top of their sh*t.

Hence a powerful little grounding stone, reliving anxiety, and spreading love and compassion <3

Selenite Pyramid

selenite pyramid

Selenite powers: purifying the space and body, emotional balance, well-being, mental clarity

Chakra: third eye, crown

Pyramid symbolism: life after death (Egyptian), hierarchy, the "stairway"

My biggest crystal by far - purchased at the Michigan Renaissance festival.

Another pyramid! I have this one in our living room by our TV - making it very hard to ignore!

I always want good vibes. Especially in my home.

We rarely have guests over but when we do I want to have a good time and I want them to feel comfortable. And if it's just my boyfriend and I, I want us to get along (even if we always do!)

This crystal is a symbol of just that - good vibes. And interesting that it's a pyramid, sure its beautiful but I want the crystal itself to be important as it holds much power that I value so dearly.

Other than great decoration, I think it's doing a great job purifying the space but also looking so supreme.

Opalite Bulbasuar

opalite bulbasuar crystal

Opalite powers: man-made stone, sexual prowess, improve sleep, ease anxiety

Chakra: third eye, crown

Bulbasuar: first generation grass type Pokemon, bulb absorbs sunlight

My little baby boy!!! I purchased him at the downtown metaphysical shop too. He was the last one I didn't dare pass!

My brother and I grew up on Pokemon playing the games and watching the shows. Though Bulbasuar is not my absolute favorite (COUGH Cyndaquil) it's the very first one in the Pokedex - and the most popular starter.

After doing some research, my heart dropped slightly when I learned that opalite is a man-made crystal. I felt a little punked, but I can't deny how beautiful it is.

Little Opalite Bulbasuar is illumanecent, shining in light blue and yellow hues through the light. It looks magical.

And mentioning the sun, bulb lily plants absorb the sun. The sun is energy, and personally I feel calm when soaking it up on the beach.

Though not really "genuine," I'm still proud to call Opal-suar mine!

Clear Quartz Sphere

clear quartz sphere crystal

Clear Quartz powers: absorbing, amplifying, and balancing, storing, retrieving, focusing, transmitting and channelling universal energy. Can also unblock energy.

Chakra: root, sacral, solar plexus, heart, throat, third eye, crown

Sphere symbolism: completeness, stability, perfection, harmony

Another downtown metaphysical purchase, realizing I don't have quartz!

Quartz has to be one of the most known crystals. I personally call it the "default" crystal noting its clear appearance and simple yet important healing properties, targeting all chakras.

Crystal lovers use clear quartz to even charge other crystals, hence I personally keep my quartz sphere in the center of a collection of crystals of my choice.

Clear quartz is a must have in your crystal collection, and I choose the sphere to represent it's perfection in smoothness and shape.

I also think of it as a crystal planet, surrounding it with my other crystals in harmony as if they were their moons, or even the planets to the sun.

I keep a crystal quartz necklace hanging by my bed, so the sun can hit it, powering it to absorb whichever energy is the most powerful (hopefully my morning crankiness if charged enough!)

Amazonite Heart

amazonite heart crystal

Amazonite powers: hope, soothing anxiety, self expression and self acceptance, speaking truth, personal space and balance, releases fear of judgement, kindness and grade

Chakras: heart, throat

Heart symbolism: affection and love, passion

Purchased in my favorie downtown shop.

Red is such a powerful color, usually the color of most basic hearts to represent passion and burning love. This stone however is a nice soothing aqua, which I much prefer; and it compliets well with the amazonite's powers.

This amazonite heart crystal reminds me to literally have a good heart - to love myself, to not be judgemental, and be kind to everyone. I keep this one in my travel pouch at all times.

Tiny Tiger's Eye Sphere

tigers eye sphere

Tiger's Eye powers: teach self control, turn fear into strength, make confident decisions under good judgment, bring light into your creative talent and ambitions, provide wisdom and insight to take action.

Chakra: root, sacral, solar plexus

Sphere symbolism: completeness, stability, perfection, harmony

Another downtown metaphysical purchase!

I HAD to get this crystal as a sphere to represent the "eye" of the tiger. And, my gosh, is it beautiful - how it catches the light illuminating a yellow hue, I absolutely love it!

And a very powerful crystal, perfect for introverted creatives or people with anxiety.

I downloaded a crystal catalog app on my phone to research and add notes to certain stones that my characters in Obsidan can resonate with. For a pure innocent character like Krys Adams, who is undergoes the most intense character growth and experiences trauma with an innocent mindset, this is the perfect stone for her given by her empathic friend who has extensive knowledge on metaphysical hobbies.

It also serves as a symbolism to Krys's firey features, such as amber eyes, crimson hair, and her preference for hot sunny days, but also her positive, kind personality.

This crystal is a part of my travel pouch collection and it's a great stone when I work on creative projects.

Honestly, I would love to get a cute little pillow so it won't roll away...

Because when I wrote this post I realized I lost it - hence the stock image.

Bloodstone Beads

bloodstone beaded bracelet

Bloodstone powers: physical healing properties, protects from negative energies by creating a defensive shield and deflecting undesirable influences, inner strenth and courage, teach you to embrace every struggle and take it as a life leson

Chakra: root

Sphere symbolism: completeness, stability, perfection, harmony

Purchased as a beaded bracelet from the downtown metaphysical shop.

Bloodstone has to be one of the coolest stones on the list with a religious past and an edgy looking apperance - a dark crystal with red splatters.

I first heard about Bloodstone from an adult-fantasy novel From Blood and Ash by Jennifer L. Armentrout, where people carve weapons into bloodstone to specifically kill vampire creatures known as the Craven. (The book made me want to own a bloodstone dagger like Poppy's!)

Bloodstone also has a religious context, where it's created by the blood drops of Christ, staining the earth below where he hung from the cruxifix, hence the natural crimson splatters.

I went on the hunt downtown to learn more about bloodstone, and come across information in one book that wearing bloodstone can make you more inspired to work creatively (and something about making more money, I recall???). So I purchased some beads and I wear them everyday before I go to sleep.

While researching online for this post, I found out warriors wore bloodstone to heal their battle wounds faster. Hence, bloodstone seems like it's really... the blood stone - the ultimate physical healing crystal that heals your bones and imroves your circulatory system.

Definetly, a great stone to wear.

Black Obsidian Beads

obsidian bead bracelet

Black Obsidian powers: protection against negative energies, embrace human flaws and weaknesses as opportunities for growth and development, change bad habits

Chakra: root

Not really a "shape" but I wear obsidian beads with my bloodstone beads everyday.

Obsidian helps block negative energies, and being an empathetic person I don't wish to pick up on dark emotions, anxiety and toxicity from others. The beads help me feel like I can able to keep my cool and help them without matching their opposite vibes.

In my story my main character D.J gets given obsidian beads by Sunny, the "witchy" girl on campus, after helping Krys and Jess cope with their trauma. D.J has to continue to be strong for his cousin and roomate Krys as she's likely having a lot of emotional conflicts.

Not to mention D.J is also Krys's empath through the psychological connection she made with him, able to feel her pain and sadness, therefore the obsidian helps him limit those negative feelings.

Sunny, a true human empath, wears obsidian herself when she gathers with her Circle, a group of students who seek to improve their mental health through a series of natural and metaphysical practices.

Selenite Mandala Platform

selenite mandala platform

Selenite powers: purifying the space and body, emotional balance, well-being, mental clarity

Mandala symbolism: the universe, everything is connected

I purchased this beautiful stone platform from a crystal vendor in the Michigan Rennisance Festival.

This platform sit at my desk working in the high-school, topped with a vibrant orange carnelian stone for my courage and creativity.

I work in a library / media center, where students often hang out to study, attend their classes or rest. I'm all about good vibes, so I keep this stone at my desk to purify the space.

Even if it just reaches my desk area, I want to feel comfy and settled where I'm at most of the day. I don't dare risk placing selenite in different corners of the library... as that might rise some questions from my colleagues thinking I'm a total witch.

Besides, students have to approach me at my desk so I can resolve their computer issues, and I very much want to radiate a good comfortable energy to them.

I'm still a beginner in the crystal world. As I'm writing about my selenite platform, I'm drawn back to how workspace has absolutely no windows - it has zero charge! (Ugh, the real crystal girls would be so dissapointed in me!)

Hence, after this weekend, I'm going to start making a ritual of taking my salenite home and charge it by the sun so it can restore it's full effect. Lets see if the kiddos finally remember to return thier chargers to me :)

I'll be back <3

As we end 2023 oh I'll be finding more crystals and add another post.

I feel like this year was an mind-opening year, realizing the things that made me who I am, what made me happy, anxious, and creative.

I understand the hobby not be for everyone, but I feel like more people should at least learn about crystals and stones - and having them shaped as objects and animals would make it even more special.
